We want to join you in celebrating your seniors during our Senior Celebration on Friday, May 24th!

To help us make this night special, we need you to do the following 2 things…

STEP ONE.

Make sure you or your Senior have RSVP’d for the event

STEP TWO.

Write out your parent commissioning letter to your senior (outlined below!)

Commissioning letters are an incredibly meaningful and tangible way that you can articulate to your graduation senior your love for them and your prayer for them to continue in the faith as they move into the next stage of life.

As you look to send your son/daughter out into the world as independent adults, we want YOU to encourage them towards the life God has called them to. Your commissioning letter is a great way to guide them:

  • towards authentic faith in God through Jesus Christ

  • towards a life of following Jesus in obedience

  • to become a disciple who makes disciples (an influencer & multiplier)

  • to give generously of their giftings and finances

  • towards life-long commitment to the church and a community of believers for accountability and encouragement

In writing your letter, we want to encourage you to remind them of their identity in Christ. Bless them by once again teaching them that their worth comes from God, not their success in life as an adult.

Make sure that your letter offers your son/daughter your blessing. You’ll want to be sure to show your approval of your son/daughter as they look to enter life as an adult on their own. It might help to share with your son/daughter the ways that they have displayed qualities and characteristics of Biblical manhood/womanhood.

Don't forget to remind them of your unconditional love for them, confirming that their relationship with you is full of God’s grace in times of trial, failure, confusion, doubt, fear, etc… Let them know that you will do your best to always be there for them as Godly counsel.

Lastly, encourage and challenge them to put their relationship with God through Jesus Christ at the top of their priority list. Share with them ways you’ve seen them live on mission for God and urge them to fully engage in a life lived for God’s kingdom. Help your son/daughter feel empowered to honor God with their lives, to obey Him in all aspects of life, and to serve Him with their time, energy, and money.

If you are attending the Senior Celebration Dinner on the 5th, feel free to handwrite your letter and bring it with you. However, if you are unable to attend but would still like your Senior to receive a letter during the night, you can email your letter to students@scottshill.org.
