MTN CAMP MISSION TRIP
MTN CAMP MISSION TRIP
We have spent over a decade partnering with the North Carolina Baptist Children’s Homes (NCBCH). There are several homes across our state with anywhere from 5 to 25 kids/teenagers who have been rescued from dangerous situations in their own homes. When considering how significant Summer Camp is for our students, we decided it was time to give that same spiritual experience to those who wouldn’t otherwise have that opportunity. Scotts Hill Baptist Church has built an on-going partnership with NCBCH through the years and our students have done an incredible job joining in and catching the mission for ministry. Our staff and leaders have been amazed at how well our students have served our past summer mission trips and how well they connect with the kids. We are more than confident in their ability to host another summer camp experience for the NCBCH children. This year’s summer’s Mountain Camp Mission Trip experience will be at Camp Mundo Vista in Sophia, NC. If you’d like to learn more about this location, you can visit their website: https://campmundovista.com
If you are already a member of Scotts Hill Baptist church, you’re ready to move on to step two! If you aren’t a member yet, don’t worry! Our staff has made the process of membership accessible…
If you’d like to start the membership process - fill out the form HERE.
Once you go through the membership class/or videos and meet with an elder, you’ll be ready for step two of the MTN CAMP application process.
For students to be qualified to join our team, they must be a regular attender on Wednesday nights and highly involved in their small group community.
If you don’t feel like you meet that criteria, it’s okay! We’d love to see you over the next year really be committed to your faith community and start being a leader amongst your peers before taking on the kind of leadership that is required at MTN CAMP.
If you meet the requirements of steps one and two then you’re ready to complete your MTN CAMP application!
However, just because you’ve submitted an application doesn't mean that you’re in just yet.
Since spots are limited at MTN CAMP, student staff will review applications and will send students through to step four based on the applications that demonstrate a clear understanding of the Gospel, leadership abilities and proper heart posture.
Should your application be chosen, you will receive a separate email with an invite to the team, links to access the MTN CAMP registration form (which includes a $50 deposit) and more information about raising money, team assignments and everything else you need to succeed!
Should your application not be chosen, you will also be contacted individually about the staff’s decision and reasoning. We won’t leave you in the dark! That’s okay - this will just give you something to work towards for next year.

Following in the general format of a camp, we are hoping to accomplish a number of things with our programming and scheduling: First, we would like to present the Gospel in a way that is comprehensive to a broad audience of both children and teenagers. Our goal is to do this in a way that engages not only the heart and mind, but also the imagination. Second, we want to provide a location where each group of children and staff can escape from the normalcy of their everyday environments. It is our desire to create a retreat, of sorts, for each individual that participates. Third, we want to pour into relationships with the children so that they can know that there is a family who cares about them and loves them. We also want to develop relationships with the staff and encourage them in their roles at each of the homes.
SMALL GROUP LEADER: Every student who comes on this trip will be a small group leader throughout the week! As small group leaders, students will lead small group discussion, prayer and should be intentional in building relationships with the NCBCH students placed within their specific groups throughout the week.
SPEAKER: Speakers will work with Tucker to craft and deliver a message during one of the camp sessions. Speakers should be confident in their abilities to communicate their given biblical passage clearly and effectively as to reach students with Gospel truth in a relatable and attainable way!
WORSHIP TEAM: Worship team members will use their talents to lead music worship during camp sessions.
PRODUCTION TEAM: Production team members will help with stage set-up, lighting, sounds, CG and any other technical needs throughout the duration of camp.
HOSPITALITY TEAM: Hospitality team members will welcome NCBCH students and staff as they arrive at camp, help navigate registration and check-in, will welcome NCBCH students and staff into sessions and will be overall in charge of making sure to be a loving and hospitable presence throughout camp, not only during sessions but also during meal and activity times.
GAMES/HOST TEAM: Games team members will be in charge of creating, executing and leading stage games during each camp session.
REC TEAM: Rec team members will be in charge of planning and leading out afternoon rec games each day of camp and should also be excited about initiating game opportunities with NCBCH students during daily free times.
